*** PARODY OF WOLFMOTHER - JOKER AND THE THIEF ***
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LYRICS:
I said the Jelquer is a wanted man,
And makes his way all across the land
I see him twistin' a d*ck in his hands,
So I tell you all the story
'bout the Jelquer and the Qu**f in the night
He looks for victims at the leave of the light
He likes it better when they put up a fight
The young and pretty are set in his sights
And they are not comin' home
Can you see the Jelquer creeping over?
He's bout to bust, he's going supernova
Rubbing it out, every day
Why the f*ck haven't we locked him away?
I said the Jelquer is a - a wanted man
(and makes his way all across the land)
I see him twistin' a d*ck in his hands
So I tell ya, I tell ya, I tell ya, I tell ya
A story 'bout the Jelquer
Tell you what he's done

For those who were excited for "Welcome to The Jungle", I am sorry to disappoint you. I decided to change the song for a couple of reasons.
Firstly, the vocal from welcome to the jungle was going to be a lot more difficult than this song, which is hard enough as it is. I recently lost my voice also, so I didn't want to have another repeat.
Secondly, Joker and The Thief is one of my favorite songs, and I think it fits this version of this scene a little better.
The final section of the song is actually a mix between the megamind soundtrack and the original song, which I wasn't expecting to work very well. I think it turned out okay, let me know what you think.
As I said at the end of the video, just like the rest of the soundtrack, all the sounds you hear in this song are made with my voice. Quite obviously though, there is A LOT of processing going on to achieve those sounds.
The acapella requirement is pretty limiting, since I know the sound quality isn't as good as what it could be with real instruments. I would love to make a full version of this song at some point, with real instruments, but I don't have the time at the minute. Perhaps after the film is finished, I will remake this track, and do a better job.
The track was insanely difficult to create. It took me 3 different attempts over a couple of weeks. It was originally going to be an unprocessed acapella, like the rest of the soundtrack, but it just didnt have the energy to match the climax of the film, so I decided to spend some time to learn some processing tricks to really do it justice.
Unfortunately, the song gets quite heavily compressed on YouTube, so the sound quality is somewhat lost. It's probably something I can fix, but I dont really know how at the moment.
Either way, I hope you enjoyed!
_______________________________________________
I'll do a small explanation for each instrument here, but if you want more information, I might make a seperate video going into detail.
LEAD GUITAR:
Recorded the melody in 1/4 speed, then sped it up 4x to match the original. After I had a clean take of the riff, I sent it through a custom amp plugin, to try and match the tone of the original song. By using a copy 1 octave higher, and automating the saturation over time, I was able to change the tone of the riff over the course of the song.
OTHER GUITARS:
Recorded a clean version acapella, then into a custom amp, with an EQ match from the original song, to match the tone.
Drums**
Toms:
Just a *P* sound, with an EQ to boost the low frequencies, followed by another EQ, with a very tight boost to a single frequency to tune them. Like most of the sounds in the song, I then smashed it into a limiter to make it sound fatter
Kick:
A *POOF* sound, once again with big low end EQ boosts. Since the drums were quite low pitched, I followed by heavy saturation to allow it to come through smaller speakers a bit easier, and cut through the bass.
Hats:
*tsss* and *ksss*
Snare:
There a few different snare sounds in the song. Tight EQ boosts to the 200-500hz range, and punchy limiting to fatten while preserving the transients.
