Description
We're continuing to discover the films of Ken Russel. Today we were intrigued by his Mahler (1974).
One of Russell's many films dedicated to famous composers, this one explores the life and work of Gustav Mahler (Robert Powell).
The old and sick composer is on a train with his wife Alma, whose marriage ended in a complete disaster, and recalls his life. In the past is the key to the current fiasco: an unhappy childhood, loneliness, the suicide of a brother, a forced transition from the Jewish faith to the Catholic one, failures in family life and the death of children.
