Description
Why does Lord Krishna wear a peacock feather?
When Krishna breathed into the flute the nectar of his lips, a lovely raga with a leisurely rhythm and a deep foundation emerged from its end. Peacocks in and around the Govardhan Hills were entranced by this amazing vibration. The flute's resonance causes the peacocks to dance. Their voices rang out across the hills as their hearts started to sing with delight. They presented their feathers as "Gurudakshina," lowered their heads, and touched the sacred feet of Krishna. To everyone's delight, Sri Krishna graciously accepted the peacocks' offering, took the feathers, and placed a few of them on his turban. He eventually decided to wear the peacock feathers as a result.
