St. Cecilia's Girls' College's Primary English Choir performed La Cucaracha for the Carmelite Mother Superior on the 13th of July.
The choristers have performed the song in bothe English & Spanish. The choir is composed of students from the ages of 7-11.
This performance was trained,choreographed and directed by Mrs. Delicia Niranjana Jeyaraj, the Teacher-in-Charge of the choir and CC, The Cecilian Cantabile choir.
The performance narrates the tale of the soldiers who return home after defending the Spanish Isles and are welcomed gracefully by the Ladies.
La Cucaracha (meaning "The Cockroach") is a traditional Spanish language folk song. It is very popular in Mexico, and was especially so during the Mexican Revolution. The basic song describes a cockroach who cannot walk.
