Today my father would have been 88 years old. He used to love for us to sing this song on his birthday and he used to love to sing it to others (me on guitar with my Mom singing lead while my Dad sang harmony). It was extra special when my daughters Suzanne and Jaimee would knock on their grandparents door at sunrise and start singing. I remember how my Dad would jump out of bed when he would hear "Las Mananitas" on his birthday (my Mom... not so much lol). This song is traditionally performed as the individual who's birthday is being celebrated is waking - first thing in the morning. My Dad was always so happy and thankful to hear it. I sure do miss him.
