Description
Tomorrow is Ashadhi Ekadashi, the auspicious festival associated with Lord Vitthal (particularly in Maharashtra). One of the many thematic concerts Kumarji organised was: Tukaram — Ek Darshan. He explored various themes across various compositions of Sant Tukaram and composed them in his style. One of the most popular abhangs from that concert was “Laxmi Vallabha” — an ardent plea by Tukaram Maharaj to Lord Vitthal to grace him with his presence, and to help him get absolved from this circle of birth and death. The piquant plea in the tune has a haunting nature that stays with you, and that’s probably what made this tune popular.
