“Let It Whip” is a 1982 funk anthem by the Dazz Band, released as the lead single from their album Keep It Live. Co-written by Reggie Andrews and Leon “Ndugu” Chancler, the track blends electro-funk with live instrumentation, featuring a Minimoog bassline and drum machine rhythms.
The song topped the Billboard R&B chart for five non-consecutive weeks, reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100, and No. 2 on the Dance chart.
It earned the Dazz Band a Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals in 1983. “Let It Whip” remains a defining track of early ’80s funk, celebrated for its infectious groove and dancefloor appeal.
