Description
One of my all-time favorite dance songs is this track from the disco-funk band whose name was a pun on the phrase, "lip sync." This was their biggest hit, which went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and on the Dance chart in 1980. "Funkytown" also became a #1 song in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Israel, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Switzerland and West Germany, while going to #2 in the UK, Finland, and Sweden. The 7" single version is an edit of the almost 8-minute album version, but some countries never got this version; instead, the album version was released as the single that fades out around the 4-minute mark.
