Description
LYRICS: "Shake Hands with Santa Claus"
Shake hands, shake hands, shake hands
With Santa Claus
If you want some candy, I'll bring you the candy
Shake hands with Santa Claus
I love you; I love you and I'm going to bring
Some Candy and flowers and everything
If berries are pleasin' when they're out of season
Shake hands with Santa Claus
I love you; I love you and I'd walk a mile
To bring you the berries and watch you smile
Oh, just to share a love like yours
What miracles I could do
I'd make a rainbow and chase the storm
When the weather gets cold, I'll make it warm
If you want a cottage, I'll furnish the cottage
Shake hands with Santa Claus
I love you; I love you I give you my all
I'm like the genie at your beck and call
If you do the dreamin' I'll do the schemin'
Shake hands with Santa Claus
(INSTRUMENTAL BREAK)
Oh, just to win a love like yours
I'd follow you to Capri
I'd kiss you on the streets of Rome
Then we'd eat scungilli then fly back home
If you want bananas, some great big bananas
Shake Hands with Santa Claus
Oh, I love you, I love you and I'm gonna bring
Bananas, pianos and everything
If you do the dreamin' I'll do the schemin'
Shake hands shake hands shake hands
With Santa Claus!
* Louis Prima & His Orch. – "Shake Hands With Santa Claus" Recorded in New York City on October 18, 1951. *
Memories of an "Italian-American Christmas"; From the aroma of the food to the glow of the fire lights and good music "Canzone Natalizia or Canzone Di Natale" there's nothing like an Italian-American Christmas. More than 3 million Italians immigrated to the United States in the early years of the 20th century, establishing the largest immigrant community of the period. Where a group of Italian-American vocalists achieved great success as recording artists and performers, here we'll salute the Italian-American crooners, such as Frank Sinatra, Louis Prima, Vic Damone, Jerry Vale, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, Perry Como, Lou Monte, Al Martino, Julius La Rosa, Frankie Laine, Don Cornell, Connie Francis and many, many more, hearing their Christmas songs that played in our homes. Undeniably, religion remains the central part of the Christmas season, and so we share the season with family, Loved ones, plenty of good food and music.
A very famous Italian proverb says: “Natale con i tuoi, Pasqua con chi vuoi,” meaning that is mandatory to spend Christmas with your family and loved ones, but you can choose friends or whoever you want for Easter.
Buon Natale! Merry Christmas
