I remember in 2017 I was sitting next to my uncle who is from Ft. Worth Texas. We were on a bus passing time, he pulled out one of his wired earbuds, handed me it and asked if I ever heard of Whiskey Myers.. as I listened to this song for the first time with him I heard crystal meth, depression, death, dancing for dollar, and cold rain. This was not the country music I was use too and initially a little off put. It’s sad, I wish this song didn’t hit home with so many people. As time passed this song has grown to be one of my favorites because of the incredible story telling. And if I’m lucky I’ll even shed a tear when listening; my heart goes out to people who have been affected by addiction. That’s music that moves, As real as it gets.
