Description
Matthew's Southern Comfort performed their version of Joni Mitchell's "Woodstock" in 1971, two years after the festival. Matthew's Southern Comfort used a sliding guitar which really gave it the distinct sound heard by anybody listening to the radio in 1971. Joni could not attend the festival in 1969 because she had already booked another performance, but instead agreed to write the theme song featured in the film "Woodstock", performed by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young in their hard rock style in the film's soundtrack.
