Hello 😊
Here’s a transcription I’ve done of the song “Midnight Confessions” by The Grass Roots. This track was released as a single in 1968. Carol Kaye was the bass player on this track.
You can find this transcription on Muzento under the Intermediate Songs category.
I don't recall ever hearing this song before—it was introduced to me by one of my longtime supporters. Thank you, Bob! I really enjoyed it, and I hope you will too. :)
This song has a great groove. It looks and sounds more difficult than it actually is, which makes it a fun and worthwhile rhythm to learn.
I really struggled with which key to notate it in. I went back and forth between F♯ and G♭. I personally prefer reading flat keys, but that would mean including an F♭ chord. Notating it in F♯ allowed me to write that chord as an E instead. Either way, both keys can be tricky to read.
It was probably played with a pick, but I didn’t hear or feel anything that made it necessary—so I used my fingers. :)
This one will definitely get your fingers moving! Stay relaxed and keep looking ahead.
I hope you enjoy it 😊
Don’t forget to like and subscribe—and thanks for watching!
