The L.A. Bellydance Academy took to the stage at the 2018 Travel and Adventure show in Los Angeles at the Travel and Adventure show. This show, a live event designed to showcase the beauty and artistry of world performance arts.

As a musical form, Shaabi is the voice of the street, an urban expression full of feeling, double entendres, and social commentary.

As a dance, Shaabi reflects a true and authentic expression of the Egyptian people and their humor and playfulness.

Classically referred to as Raqs Sharqi, danse oriental, or Raks Baladi the belly dance is a fusion of Arabic folk styles, mixing with otherworldly influences such as Russian ballet and Latin dances which developed roots in early Egyptian cinema and the cabarets in 1920's Egypt.
