Here is a concert unlike any other: a rare occasion when MS stood alone on stage, without Radha mami by her side. It took place in Goregaon, Bombay, perhaps under the organisation of Vyjayanthimala Bali, and offers a glimpse of MSS in a freer, more unguarded light. There is an openness here, a beauty in her voice that feels different, the same familiar songs, yet imbued with a freshness all their own. The concert carries more manodharmam than usual, with a rare and finely wrought Ragam Tanam Pallavi in Bhairavi and tukkudas that touch the heart. One of her finest performances, it is the sort one can return to again and again. This is a repost, but one well worth revisiting.
