Description

Chuxi is another Tulou cluster in Fujian, which is famous for its aerial view. The Jiqing Lou is the oldest and largest tulou in the village, which was built in 1419. This tulou is composed of two rings, the outer ring has 4 stories with 53 rooms per level, while the second ring only has one story.

CHUXI is the largest Fujian tulou listed in the UNESCO WORL HERITAGE SITE. Tulous are also known as Hakka Houses and Circular and Rectangular Traditional Chinese Houses among others. Some of the Hakka people still live in these tulous. You can feel the authenticity of the place, as there has not been any modern infrastructure in the village. Homestay and guest houses are also available here.

Chuxi is accessible via Yonding and Longyan Station and about 40-minute ride from Hongkeng Village. Admission is 65 RMB.
