Aren't you afraid of hiking alone through rural Tanzania?
This is the question I got over and over again a month before departing.
My goal was to summit Kilimanjaro from sea to sea - it would be the second peak of my project to climb the 7 Summits from sea level and back.

Hiking from the Indian Ocean to climb Mount Kilimanjaro was probably one of the most challenging things I've ever done.

The heat, blisters and long distances wore me down even before I got to the town of Moshi.

When I arrived I wasn't in any state to climb, but this is exactly what I wanted when I set this goal - a next-level challenge.
