‘My Home Is Not in This World’ is described as a “re-envisioned and rebuilt Motown somewhere in the California desert”. Recorded analog-to-tape and produced by her brother and longtime collaborator Elliot Bergman, the 12-track record shimmers with gospel soul, country-western heartache, and rock ‘n’ roll grit, all filtered through Natalie’s unmistakable voice. “The title is an acknowledgment of my longing for this place over yonder,” Natalie reveals. “It represents my desire to not be a part of what’s going on digitally. I was trying to be the antithesis of a lot of modern music. There are some earthy sounds and many of the songs are about love. At the same time, it’s about finding my place on earth—even though I’ve never truly felt like I belonged here.”
