Released 40 years ago, 'Happy Love' was the last LP that Natalie Cole recorded for the Capitol label that had launched her to stardom 6 years earlier with 'This Will Be'. The 1981 opus was the singer's 8th album, but it was not a success and did not yield any hit singles. However 'I Can't Let Go' is a wonderful inclusion on that set and I have posted it here as it is one of my favourite Natalie Cole recordings. Her music was significant for me in the 1980's and her voice is a once in a generation tone - one that netted her much in the way of acclaim and fan base; and one that mourned the vocalist's early passing in 2015 at the age of 65. The music of Natalie Cole will be with us forever, and I for one, can't let go!
