Following the precedent set by Colpix, Philips Records’ executives chose to record Nina’s first of seven albums for the label in a “live” setting. Having already proven that she could fill New York’s Carnegie Hall (resulting in an entire Colpix LP recorded there in May 1963), Nina returned for another triumphant show on March 21, 1964. The ink was barely dry on her new Philips contract, initiated when the Dutch company’s head Wilhelm Langenberg had flown to New York and refused to leave until Nina signed with the company; with a program of mostly new material, Nina gave a spellbinding show at the famed Manhattan venue including this Afro-beat-driven George Bass tune that became a staple in her live repertoire for decades to come and was included as a key cut on the successful 2002 _Verve Remixed_ project with an extended ten-minute remix by Masters At Work.
