This one goes out to the many Filipinos who made this awesome song extremely popular on this channel; it's currently ranked in 4th place with more than 63,000 views--really amazing, so thank you, all! From what I gathered, "Sweet Soul Revue" was a huge hit in the Philippines during the mid-1990s, and the song got a further boost in popularity when a local station there also used the song in its promotional ads for the anime "Ranma 1/2", and eventually the song became associated with the anime even though it has nothing to do with the anime at all, as Ranma 1/2 has its own distinctive soundtrack. In Japan, the song was used in a major advertising campaign for Kanebo Cosmetics in 1993.
