Japan's Pizzicato Five is one of my favorite international groups, and in 1993 they released this catchy, irresistible track that was dedicated to Mireille Darc, Henry Mancini, and the Staple Singers--I just love how bright and happy this song sounds, while at the same time radiating a kind of groovy stylishness that only Pizzicato Five can pull off. Sweet Soul Revue peaked at #19 on the Japan pop charts, and also became the Kanebo Cosmetics image song for the company's Spring advertising campaign.
