Ray LaMontagne: During my childhood, I simply wanted only a home, that we however never had. Then when I was approximately 25 years old, I bought a piece of land in the country and began to build my own house. In the moment, I had the stability that I had always wished for. Naturally that is now all past and I begin at the beginning again. But I had six happy years together with my wife and both sons with 60 acres of land and a wood house. This time was very valuable for me. Now everything is with the devil.

My whole life long I wished for stability. Already as a small boy of seven or eight years I said that I would build myself a house. I wished for a wood house and talked about it the whole time. I also had longing for a quite special person in my life, this was my mother. But I never got something from it. People always came to us, it was constant coming and going. Alcohol and force were our everyday life. And therefore there were problems again and again. Therefore I always wished for the simplest things such as peace and stability. And as I had that for a short time, it was wonderful.
