Description
The Tangail saree could well be Pancham's gift for Asha on her birthday. What a delightful number from RD Burman's puja album (EP record) of 1978! Lyrics by Swapan Chakraborty.
The tune, which probably has origins in Nepal's hill folk music, was later used by Pancham as a lovely Kishore Kumar solo "phoolon ke desh mein," which unfortunately remained unreleased in a film. And of course in a commercial jingle for food masala "yaad aa gaya mujhko guzra zamana, khushboo bheeni bheeni zayka-shahana."
