Today we remember the legendary Bill Withers on his birthday.
Known for timeless songs like Ain’t No Sunshine, Lean on Me, and Lovely Day, his voice left a mark on generations.

“Lovely Day” was co-written by Bill Withers and Skip Scarborough and released in 1977.
At the end of the song, Withers holds the word “day” for an astonishing 18 seconds. A moment that would go down in music history.
That note held the unofficial record for the longest sustained vocal note in a hit song for over two decades, until it was finally surpassed in 2000.

I created this acapella version using his vocals only. Just his voice, front and center.
