As a Texan, I got really angry when our Governor decided to take orders from a certain makeup wearing President to Gerrymander the federal congressional districts of Texas EVEN HARDER.

The governor called a special session of the Texas legislature and told the media that the main purpose of the special session was to provide humanitarian relief, emergency services and flood warning systems to the citizens of Texas.

Also on the agenda was a redistricting issue.

Rather than dealing with the flood relief issues first (which would have passed easily and quickly with bipartisan support) the GOP leadership decided to engage in a process known as “agenda manipulation.”

This is where the most difficult item is addressed first. In this case, the redistricting was an absolute shit storm that everybody knew would probably result in all of the Democrats in the House of Representatives leaving the state in order to shut down the legislature.

When the minority party leaves the legislature in order to prevent a quorum, it’s called a quorum break. That’s what was happening when I wrote this song.

Of course, in the media, the Texas GOP is predictably blaming the absent Democrats for the fact that no flood relief is going to get passed. That’s why the GOP did it. These dishonest bastards should have handled that first.

I understand that games are played in politics, but this feels like endangering people‘s lives in order to grab power. The leadership in Texas does not give a shit about Texans. They care about power and partisanship. I will be glad when I read their obituaries
