I was working a tour for Angel Bat Dawid & Tha Brothahood. I haven’t been doing this job for long but I’ve always been supported by Angel and the ensemble. Bombyx Center for Arts & Equity belittled me and disrespected me when things weren’t going their way. There was a clear difference in the way they spoke to the sound manager, a black man, and the way they spoke to me. This experience was eye opening and taught me a lot in the sense that black women have to fight for respect in every aspect of life. Not only in the music industry, but everywhere. Music has the power to heal and the power to teach. I’m grateful to everyone who has supported and encouraged
me on this journey and I hope you all learn something from watching this video.
