BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER: AND THOUGHT I WASN'T CONVINCED AT FIRST
SPOILERS!
Ok, I'll be honest, I really didn't have much faith in this movie, after the Thor Love And Thunder fiasco, my expectations dropped quite a bit but now that I finally got to see #BlackPantherWakandaForever I've swallowed my words.
In this new film we see one of the most heartbreaking openings that can be in a superhero movie, then we see the kingdom of Wakanda struggling with the mourning of losing King T'challa and while Shuri (Letitia Wright) and her mother Ramonda (Angela Bassett) try to continue for their people, on the other hand in the Atlantic Ocean we see how in a marine exploration to look for Vribranium, a group of agents are attacked by the tlalocans, bone the enemies of Wakanda and the world led by Namor, and it is from this that a war between Wakanda and Tlalocan (or as I like to call it: Veracruz) that will define the destiny of the world.
I honestly didn't expect anything from this movie, but I ended up surprised, I'm not saying that I loved it... at least not like the first one, but I can say that it is the best of phase 4 of the MCU along with Eternals, Shang-Chi, MoonKnight , What If…? And Loki. The story, although it is basically the same as No Way Home, I will say that I liked Shuri's character development more because she went from being a secondary character to being THE protagonist, being her the new Black Panther which is super cool, I can't wait to see her fight alongside the New Avengers in a battle against Kang The Conqueror.
As for the other characters, I am not going to talk about the representation of Mexicans in this film so as not to enter into a debate, but it really does not convince me that they are based on pre-Hispanic cultures, I am not saying that it is bad, but yes. I'm missing something more iconic to make it more memorable, I don't know, maybe a direct mention of Quetzalcoatl or I don't know, something like that, I really don't like Namor played by Tenoch Huerta, he's not a bad character but I think he is one of the best characters of the phase 4 and the best Black Panther villain, in addition to mixing Aztec and Mayan cultures when both are very different from each other, for that I better watch Mel Gibson's Apocalypto (great by the way) instead of trying to make sense of that mess they made. We also get the introduction of Riri Williams as Iron Heart which was… ok it was just okay, we also see Lupita Nyong'o as Nakia who had a child with T'Challa which I'm assuming is Azari or I don't know who it is and the rest of the characters already know it, ah! We also see Michael B. Jordan as Killmonger in a kind of hallucination of Shuri and speaking of Shuri, seriously the design of her armor looks pretty cool, without a doubt she is the most suitable to carry the mantle of Black Panther and be the queen of Wakanda but without a doubt and without fear of being wrong, the best thing about this film was Rihanna's return to music with two completely new songs that are worth listening to.
Black Panther Wakanda Forever is not perfect by any means but I think it is a very interesting and emotional sequel that pays tribute to Chadwick Boseman and now if this was officially the last film of this break called phase 4, if I had to list the films of phase 4 of the MCU from best to worst would be something like this: 1. Eternals, 2. Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings, 3. Black Panther Wakanda Forever, 4. Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness, 5. Spiderman No Way Home, 6 Black Widow, 7. Thor Love And Thunder, this last one is by far the worst of all and now hold on because a multiversal war and Kang Dnyasty is coming and I seriously can't wait to see what will happen to the Marvel universe later. So yes, officially Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is the best superhero movie of the year and one of the best MCU movies and that is something INDISPUTABLE.
My rating for this movie is: 8/10
Do not miss this movie if you like:
-Black Panther (2018)
-Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings
-Thor Love And Thunder
-Black Widow
From the soundtrack you hear Rihanna with the new song “Lift Me Up”.
Thanks for watching.
