"Roll the Old Chariot" is a sea shanty with uncertain origins. The title is derived from the lyrics. The chorus is adapted from the 19th-century Salvation Army hymn, 'Roll the Old Chariot,' which later evolved into a sea shanty. For this cover, I have rewritten the lyrics for each verse but the first, though they are largely in keeping with the imagery of the original.
