The high watermark in the career of American rock band Scandal, this 1984 smash was a huge hit in America (#7) Canada (#1) and in Australia where it reached #6. Credited as Scandal featuring Patty Smyth, 'The Warrior'' was the title of their only long player. With an extended play two years before it and some follow up singles after it, nothing came close to this great pop/rock track. I have used images from Xena: Warrior Princess as it felt the most apt to illustrate it! Lucy Lawless! What a Babe!

Back to Scandal's 'The Warrior', it was penned by Holly Knight and Nick Gilder; the former being responsible for so many pop classics of that era; including Pat Benatar's 'Love Is A Battlefield'', Tina Turner's 'The Best' and Divinyl's 'Pleasure and Pain'' just to name a few female rock anthems. Nick Gilder had a huge hit in the late 70's with 'Hot Child In The City'' (on my channel).
