"See you later Alligator" was a US Top 10 hit for Bill Haley & His Comets in 1956. The song was written and first recorded by Bobby Charles, an American singer-songwriter.

Haley's arrangement of the song is faster-paced than the original. The song also has a more light-hearted beat than the original – starting out with a high-pitched, childlike voice belonging to Haley's lead guitarist, Franny Beecher, who is reciting "See you later Alligator".

The ending of "See you later Alligator" is virtually identical to Haley's earlier hit, "Shake, Rattle and Roll" – a song that you can also hear here on this channel:

"See you later Alligator" is one of the great classics not only of Bill Haley, but of early rockabilly in general.
