Have you ever tried G7 altered over Fm7?
This clip is also from Intro to Modal Interchange video 2, and I was playing this lick over Fm7 Cmaj7 chord changes. It’s a G7 altered on top of Fm7.
To be honest, I don’t think I learned this approach from anyone but I think it works pretty fine. It’s being demonstrated in this section. It’s pretty fun to find out these approaches where it looks like scale doesn’t fit but works.
