Description
Leroy Anderson had the original idea for "Sleigh Ride" during a heat wave in July 1946. So I hope you won't mind my posting this video in July.
Anderson finished the work in February 1948, and the orchestral version was first recorded by Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops Orchestra.
Mitchell Parish added lyrics in 1950. Johnny Mathis' 1958 recording of the song is probably the most popular vocal version.
Currier and Ives was a popular printing company in the 19th century. The company closed in 1907, 43 years before the song's lyrics were written.
