Pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet performs fellow Frenchman Erik Satie’s most recognizable work, the elegant and melancholic "Gymnopédie No. 1", from the set of three. Satie’s Gymnopédies have been covered by a number of jazz and instrumental rock groups and appeared in the soundtrack to films from “Man on Wire” to “The Royal Tenenbaums.”
