Soul Sugar and Dub Shepherds return with a second single from the upcoming album Blue House Rockin’, set for release in September.
This time, they cover the dark organ instrumental “Disco Jack,” originally by Jackie Mittoo, the keyboard king!
Recorded live in the studio, the four musicians deliver a blazing hot version. The groove is tight, and the organ roars like a lion, surrounded by wild percussion and sound effects pouring out of the mixing board—channeling deep ‘70s roots vibes with a touch of funk.
Mixed the old-school way on a 24-track tape recorder, analog console and vintage hardware, the original cut comes with a massive dub version—both mixed by the Dub Shepherds at their own Bat Records studio.
