In 2022 the Cologne Male Voice Choir performed a concert featuring works created by Franz Schubert, Ludwig van Beethoven, Hector Berlioz, Jacques Offenbach and other composers, celebrating Franz Schubert's 225th birthday.
A young man's courtship song (performed by an alto singer) is echoed and accompanied - and maybe slightly ridiculed - by a chorus of men. The original version was written for voices and piano. Franz Schubert wrote this piece for voices and piano. The orchestra arrangement was created after his death by fellow Austrian Felix Mottl.
