First recorded in 1966 by the bluegrass band the Greenbriar Boys (listen here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1eHq7ZUkO1k ), this Michael Nesmith tune was the breakout hit for Linda Ronstadt. Backed by members of L.A.’s famed Wrecking Crew studio musicians, Linda was the only member of the Stone Poneys group that actually performed on this track. The longer LP version doubles the length of the instrumental break (but is not currently accessible via YouTube).
