Stryper is a Christian Metal band that was formed in 1983 originally called Roxy Regime. The band changed its name to Stryper to reflect its Christian beliefs. The names Stryper is based on Isaiah 53 from the KJV bible. They were the first Christian Metal band to gain acceptance into the mainstream.
