Description
Jaijaiwanti is a beautiful raga that we have already explored in this project, through two other bandishes, “Maathe Jada Chanda” and “Main Laai Sera”. However, there is another beautiful bandish in Jaijaiwanti that Kumarji composed - "Sun Lai Mana" that talks about how we should approach music as practitioners. Kumarji’s music had a unique and authoritative confidence in itself, which was always noticed and applauded by his followers as well as critics. Through this bandish, we can understand that the confidence came from a place of humility, love and respect, and that is what made his music beautiful. He worked hard to create his own place and to make his voice heard, however, that voice never came from a place of arrogance or pride, but from a sheer love of music, which is what those who know or understand Kumarji will always cherish.
