The Chicago Bears left tackle competition now includes 4 players as Theo Benedet has joined Braxton Jones, Ozzy Trapilo and Kiran Amegadjie. No one seems to be running away with the job as Ben Johnson and Bears offensive line coach Dan Roushar continue to mix and match at training camp. Trapilo worked exclusively at right tackle today with the 2nd-team offense as Roushar said they wanted to get him some work on the right side. Is Trapilo trending toward being the swing tackle? Amegadjie worked at left tackle with the 3rd-team offense while Jones and Benedet split reps with the starters. Who will win the Bears left tackle job? Also, Caleb Williams reportedly had a strong day at Bears Training Camp today after a poor day on Monday. He connected with Rome Odunze and Olamide Zaccheus several times. Also, Ben Johnson announced that Williams and other Bears starters will play against the Buffalo Bills in Sunday’s 2nd preseason game. Ben Johnson On starters playing vs. Bills:
“Everyone is going to play. Last week and throughout camp I’ve been consistent about reps, reps, reps are the most important thing to get him up to speed. With the plan we had a week ago, we were able to get somewhere between 80 and 100 more reps than we were able to, had he played in the game. This week is a different schedule. Different length in time in terms of in-between games and all of that. Our plan right now is guys that sat out last week will play this week.”

Bears’ Offensive Line Coach Dan Roushar On Braxton Jones:
“On Friday against Miami in the 1-on-1’s, I saw him set with balance, his hips were down and he used his length. I saw a player that we could win with. When I watched him Sunday, and as I told him, he reverted to whatever this is and that’s not acceptable. We have a standard and we’ll maintain that standard.”

Dan Roushar On Theo Benedet:
“There’s a lot of things to really like about Theo. He’s had probably as much improvement as any player we have in the group. There’s a lot of things for him to improve on and he knows that. He’s working his tail off. He’s put himself in position to go compete for a job somewhere in this group.”
