Description
The Gentle Soul is a two-piece vocal group. When you look at the background, there is a lot more visible. Even though they failed to stand out, this album is one of the best albums for those who like Prog Folk with light tones. It is also one of the rare albums made in California in 1968 without winking at Psychedelic Rock.
Founded by Rick Stanley and Pamela Polland, who both sing and compose folk compositions, The Gentle Soul has recorded a quality album but failed to achieve popularity. Although, the original records of Gentle Soul, which is their only album these days, are sold for thousands of dollars, which is another issue.
Things changed when the friends of Rick and Pamela, who were known in the folk circles of the period but could not make a name for themselves, supported them. The musical background of the album includes names such as Ry Cooder and Van Dyke Parks. Add the Taj Mahal (although not on the album) to these names. Because they had very good friendships with him. They came out of such an environment and recorded Gentle Soul. It seems strange that he wasn't successful.
