Description
In 1975 The Irish Rovers were in Scotland and taped a half-hour special on Bonnie Prince Charlie, Catholic grandson of exiled James 11 of England and V11 of Scotland, who crossed over from France in 1745 with the hopes of regaining the English throne for the Stuarts. He landed at Glenfinnan, rallied his Jacobite supporters and marched towards Edinburgh. His troops were eventually defeated at the Battle of Culloden in April 1746, and Charles retreated to France. The Rovers visited Glenfinnan, Blair Castle and Sterling Castle for Part 1 of the CBC Vancouver produced Special for The Irish Rovers network series.
