When I first started making videos on YouTube, I did a lot of Kingston Trio songs, especially from the album I still think was their very best, Here We Go Again! After Dave
Guard left the group, John Stewart took over. He had written several songs for the Trio during the Guard years, one of them being "Molly Dee." For some reason, this video and song, "Desert Pete," got extremely popular on YouTube. I would have to say that at the time in summer 2012 and throughout much of 2013, it was one of my most-viewed videos.
I guess we will have to see how well it does now a decade later, LOL.
Apparently the song did make it to the Top 40, peaking at #33 in September 1963.
