The Logical Song is a fantasic track by the brilliant Supertramp - recorded in 1978 and released in 1979. It climbed to no.6 in the US billboard chart 100 and no.7 in the UK top 100 chart. It was Supertamp's biggest hit in the US and UK, and was taken from their superb album 'Breakfast in America'.
We also cover another song by Supertramp, but decided to record The Logical Song in our Shed video. It always goes down well at gigs and it's fun seeing the surprised faces in the audience when we play it - hopefully it's because they're enjoying a song they don't hear covered too often!!
The musicians in The Appaloosa Show have been gigging separately for many years in both originals and cover bands. Having played the originals circuit at such venues as The Mean Fiddler, Hope and Anchor, Dublin Castle, Barfly etc. the time came to accept that a world tour wasn't going to happen!! Eventually we all moved over to cover bands as a way to continue gigging, and between us, we have played hundreds of gigs across the UK at pubs, bars, clubs, weddings, parties, universities, corporate events etc.
The current band was formed when one of the singer/guitarists in a previous cover band moved away and was no longer available. Thus we eventually settled on the existing line up of lead guitar, keyboards, bass guitar and drums.
Now, in our latest guise as The Appaloosa Show, we try to choose classic songs that most music lovers would know, but that aren't covered as much by other bands (in the UK at least). One of the comments we often hear from audience members at the end of a gig is, "great selection of songs". So it's a balance of enjoyable songs for us to play, that the audience will know and can sing along to.
