"Although Wade and I have had eight teenage foster children, we have not been blessed with children of our own. As we have painfully wondered "Why?", we've taken comfort from the story of Abraham. He also was required to wait for a child. It is by trying to imagine the anguish he endured while preparing to sacrifice Isaac that we've learned to appreciate even more the feelings of still another father - Heavenly Father. The song was inspired by pondering how all three of these fathers might have felt about their sacrifices. "
