Lee Morgan left The Jazz Messengers in the middle of 1961 and then returned to his hometown of Philadelphia, hurting his health.
In the summer of 1963, when his illness gradually recovered, he returned to New York and made a comeback. The first revived album is this album.
"The Sidewinder" was the name of a monster that appeared in a popular American television movie, and it was a fresh piece on his beat of rock in good shape.
This work, which became a pioneer of "Jazz Rock", made Morgan famous and became a big hit in his life.
