Description
I travelled to China in 2019 to visit my family and went on a little trip with them to Xi’an City in the Shan’xi Province. We ordered the tickets through a local tour guide (cash only, ofc), and it was about $60 CAD per person (taxes included). It’s outdoor and seats are first come first serve.
For any audiences who are not familiar with the ancient Chinese history:
Simply put, this is equivalent to the story of Mark Antony and Cleopatra, both in a dire situation and forced to order the death of his/her true one love to save the empire 💔💔💔
——————————————————————————
The stage performance is adopted and rewritten based on a literary masterpiece, Song of Everlasting Sorrow (809 AD), from the Tang Dynasty by the famous Chinese poet Bai Juyi (772 AD - 846 AD). It retells the love story between a Emperor and his favorite concubine Yang, Guifei.
For those who are interested, I have a wiki link for the background of the original poet.
