The Tale of JAK2 is a collection of poems originally written in Mandarin Chinese by Lennex Hsueh-Lin Yu in 2021. The poems were inspired by the gene mutation JAK2, which is associated with a rare blood condition called polycythemia vera (a type of myeloproliferative neoplasm, MPN). Through poetry, the work attempts to express some of the emotional and human aspects of living with or understanding this disease, using metaphor and simple imagery to explore complex medical ideas.

In later years, with the help of artificial intelligence, the poems were adapted into both Mandarin and English songs. These musical versions aim to make the themes more accessible and to connect with a wider audience, while staying true to the spirit of the original writings.

In 2025, these works were gathered into a collection titled The Tale of JAK2 Folk Collection. This project is a small attempt to bring together science and art, and to share awareness of MPN in a more personal and creative way.
