The series is based on Veerappan, a sandalwood smuggler from South India. Netflix on Thursday released its trailer which gives a glimpse of Veerappan's crimes. The trailer starts with a voice over mentioning Veerappan's crimes. It is being said that there is no criminal like Veerappan in history. In this trailer, it is stated that Veerappan killed 119 people. Sharing this trailer, Netflix wrote - The story of a smuggler becoming a mafia. Who is Veerappan? Veerappan was a smuggler from South India. He created a sensation with the crime. He killed hundreds of people. Along with this, he also hunted more than 2000 elephants. It is said that he used to trade elephants for their tusks by hunting them. Veerappan was encountered by the Tamil Nadu Special Task Force. When is the series releasing? The series will release on August 4 in Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada languages. Even before this, Veerappan's story has been shown on screen. In the year 2016 Veerappan had a film of the same name in which actor Sandeep Bharadwaj played his character. The film was directed by Ram Gopal Varma. In which stars like Shiv Rajkumar, Sachin J Joshi, Lise Ray and Zareen Khan were also seen. The film is available on OTT platforms Prime Video and Disney Plus Hotstar. However, the web series The Hunt for Veerappan is said to be a four-episode series.
