In GET OVER YOU, The Undertones delivered a masterwork in simplicity with its rollicking rock n roll rhythm and fine lyrics:
“Dressed like that you must be living in a different world.
And your mother doesn't know why you can't look like all the other girls"
Lyrics hilariously misheard and misquoted as “Dressed like Thatcher you must be living in a different world…”
(all the more surprising when you consider The Undertones were not a progressively political band ...or, more to the point: who would want to dress like Margaret Thatcher!)
The single joined the band’s debut Teenage Kicks in being a record you’d hear on the radio and want to rush out to buy before it was even halfway finished.
