Description
In 1944, George Stinney Jr., a 14-year-old Black boy from South Carolina, was arrested for a crime he didn’t commit — the murder of two white girls. With no physical evidence, no proper defense, and an all-white jury, George was found guilty after a rushed trial that lasted just a few hours. He didn’t understand what was happening, only that people around him were upset. For his last meal, he asked for ice cream. He was so small, the guards had to sit him on a Bible just to fit him into the electric chair. Nearly 70 years later, he was officially exonerated — too late for the boy who never truly knew why he was taken away.
